Although the hike is not extremely long (approximately 1 hour and 50 minutes to 2 hours from the starting point in Cusipata), it is essential to bring the right equipment to ensure your experience is comfortable and safe. Here is a list of what you should bring:
Clothing in layers: The weather in the Andes can be unpredictable. During the morning it can be very cold, but as the sun rises, temperatures can rise considerably. Wear layered clothing that you can adjust throughout the day.
Trekking boots: The terrain can be uneven and rocky, so it is vital to wear comfortable and resistant footwear, ideally trekking boots with good grip.
Sun protection: At higher altitudes, solar radiation is more intense. Be sure to bring sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat or cap to protect yourself.
Poncho or raincoat: Even if you travel in the dry season, the weather in the mountains can change quickly, and rain is not uncommon. Bring a light raincoat just in case.
Snacks and water: Bring enough supplies to maintain your energy levels during the hike. Energy bars, nuts and fresh fruits are ideal options.
